Sajid Javid MP recently visited Severn Trent Water in Stoke Heath to learn about the company’s investment plans and its £10m skills and training programme.
The Bromsgrove MP was given a guided tour of the pumping station, which is currently undergoing a major upgrade, including the refurbishment of boreholes at the site.
As part of the visit, the MP spoke to a local Severn Trent apprentice working on the project, through the Kickstarter Scheme.
During the whistle-stop tour, Sajid Javid was also brought up to speed on Severn Trent’s Green Recovery programme, which includes plans to invest £566m on projects that will benefit communities and environment, as well as creating 2,500 new jobs across the Midlands.
Sajid Javid, MP for Bromsgrove, said: “I was delighted to visit the Sugarbrook pumping station in my capacity as Bromsgrove’s local MP, and pleased to hear that Severn Trent is offering hundreds of young people across our region an opportunity to get on the jobs ladder through the government’s pioneering Kickstart Scheme.”
