MP for Bromsgrove, Sajid Javid, has visited Bromsgrove Library to meet library staff and see the recently opened Bromsgrove Business & IP Centre (BIPC).
Bromsgrove is one of five new BIPCs being introduced in libraries across the county, as part of the expansion of the British Library’s national BIPC network, with further centres due to open in Redditch, Kidderminster, Malvern and Evesham.
The centres, which have been funded by £13 million of investment from the Treasury, will provide dedicated business community space within libraries, including PCs, desks, Wi-Fi and meeting rooms.
Sajid Javid said: “Business & IP Centre Worcestershire is a fantastic addition to the range of services provided by Bromsgrove Library.
"Providing support through public libraries breaks down barriers to anyone thinking of starting or wanting to take their business to the next level.
"I’d encourage anyone who has a bright idea for a business to explore the free services available through the local Business & IP Centres.”
Culture minister, Caroline Dinenage, said: “It is brilliant that small businesses and entrepreneurs will now be able to access invaluable support and resources in more parts of the country than ever before.
"I'm delighted that, thanks to our £13 million investment in the British Library's Business & IP Centres, this important network is growing from strength to strength."
The service provides free business support, free access to global market intelligence, business networking events and referral to business support schemes.
