BROMSGROVE Court Leet upheld the traditions of the town on Saturday (June 26) with a Covid safe, fair day.
A procession limited to 30 people, which included 2 pipers, members of the Court Leet, chairman of Bromsgrove District Council Rod Laight and MP Sajid Javid, took to the pavement from Kidderminster Road to the Housman Statue.
The 1199 Charter granted to the Town by King John was proclaimed by the Bailiff of the Court Leet Joanne Slade and assizes of bread, ale and meat took place.
Bromsgrove MP, Sajid Javid said: “I was delighted to take part in Fair Day with Bromsgrove’s Court Leet. It is a wonderful local tradition and celebration of our history. Thank you to all of the organisers who made it possible.”
Bailiff Joanne Slade said "I was thrilled that Fair Day took place. We had worked hard with Bromsgrove District Council to ensure covid safety for all involved.
"I think it is so important that whilst upholding the traditions of the town, the Court Leet also supports local businesses and brings some colour and fun to the High Street.
"The town looked fabulous with the colourful bunting adorning the streets and this will stay in place for everyone to enjoy for the summer."
