The Government has announced an additional £3 million in funding to help Worcestershire Hospitals build back better. The funding will support the delivery of 7 important facilities projects, all of which are expected to be completed by March next year.

The news has been welcomed by Bromsgrove MP, Sajid Javid, who described the funding as “a great boost for local NHS services” and one “that will be welcomed by residents across Bromsgrove District”.

The funding builds upon the additional £2.5 million provided to local hospitals to support A&E departments this winter. The hospital trust also received a ratings improvement in September from the Care Quality Commission.

The Acute Hospital Trust - which includes the Alexandra Hospital (Redditch), Worcestershire Royal Hospital (Worcester) and Kidderminster Hospital & Treatment Centre (Kidderminster) - will receive the significant investment to carry out improvements to hospital infrastructure and services.

The money is part of a £1.5 billion announced by the Prime Minister in the summer to level up hospital infrastructure across the NHS. While £600 million will be spent on these critical maintenance upgrades, the remainder will be spent on modernising mental health facilities, expanding A&E capacity and improving infection control ahead of winter.

Bromsgrove MP, Sajid Javid, said:

“I am delighted that our local hospital trust will benefit from Government funding to carry out vital maintenance work over the coming months.”

“These crucial projects will deliver immediate benefits and provide NHS staff with the facilities they need to provide world-class care to patients. This is a great boost for local NHS services and one that will be welcomed by residents across Bromsgrove District”
