Tardebigge Lock is set to benefit from a share of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, which is designed to protect precious heritage, save jobs and prepare for the cultural bounce back post Covid-19.
Tardebigge Lock will receive over £84,000, protecting its status as an important local heritage attraction.
The funding, which will be distributed by the Canal River Trust and Historic England, will help safeguard Worcestershire’s historic canals and rivers, so that everyone can enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of being by water.
Sajid Javid MP said:
“I am delighted to see Tardebigge Lock receive this government investment”
“Our beautiful waterways are a great part of our local heritage and this investment will help protect them”
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said:
“As a nation it is essential that we preserve our heritage and celebrate and learn from our past. This massive support package will protect our shared heritage for future generations, save jobs and help us prepare for a cultural bounce back post Covid.”
