BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has launched a taskforce to help local students find the right place at university next year.
Having been contacted by constituents raising issues with their A-level results and offers from universities, Mr Javid took the unusual step of setting up a dedicated support team for local pupils and their parents, offering direct support for those struggling to secure a place on their first choice of course.
In an unprecedented academic year, students will now receive their teacher assessed grades, with planned restrictions on the number of university places lifted and universities encouraged to be flexible.
Mr Javid has written to Sixth Forms and Colleges in Bromsgrove and posted on social media offering his support and reaching out to local students.
Mr Javid said: “This has been an extremely challenging period for students in an unprecedented academic year. Over the past few days, parents and pupils from across Bromsgrove District have gotten in touch to raise issues with their results and offers from universities.”
“I want to help our students in any way that I can. That’s why I’ve set up a dedicated support team for pupils and parents in Bromsgrove District.
“If you think that I might be able to assist you with your results, or with securing a place on the right course at university, then I’d be delighted to hear from you.”
