This week is National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2017. Hate crime has no place whatsoever in British society and we will not stand for it. It’s important that all communities are able to live their lives free from fear of verbal or physical attack. I am proud to be backing our communities this week, next week and every week of each year.

Last week, marked Mental Health Awareness Day. Mental health issues affect one in every four people, and I was encouraging to see so much support in our communities. Everyday, we should be more mindful, more supportive, and there for friends and family, not just on mental health day.

In just two weeks, on Friday 3rd November, I’ll be holding my second annual Pensioners Advice and Information Fair at Parkside, 10am until 12pm Noon.

I’m delighted that we have over 40 exhibitors on the day. Not only will we have health and fitness advice, and fire safety awareness, but we’ll also be raising crime awareness. West Mercia Police will answer your concerns, NEW Lifeline will have support on community safety, and Vodafone will be providing useful information on how to remain safe online.

I hope you can make it!
