A new creative workshop has been launched in Bromsgrove aimed at building the confidence and aiding the learning of children and young people with special needs.

My Little Angel offers classes, one to one workshops, home visits and holiday clubs for babies and toddlers as well as children, young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), autism and physical disabilities.

Founder Becky Comer creates bespoke sessions based on the individual needs of the person, using music, poetry, visuals and games to build positive relationships, self-esteem and confidence.

She said: “I aim to make the sessions as fun as possible and write my own songs and poems based on the child’s favourite colours, animals and so on.

“It is all suited to them and when it is over I give the family or carer all of the work so they can continue themselves.

“I have been blown away by the feedback, the fun, interactive classes allow families to spend time with the children, bringing them together.

“A lot of the children or young people have been fostered or adopted and have been through trauma. The nurturing classes work towards building emotional resilience and aid communication.

“They are interacting and because it is fun, they don’t notice they are learning.”

Becky received a donation of sensory puppets from Bromsgrove man Chris Taylor and to say thank you she is handing them out for free to local community projects, including The Basement Project’s young parent group, Rigby Hall School, Chadsgrove School and the Alexandra Hospital’s children’s ward.

MP Sajid Javid visited Becky at Blue Giraffe Nursery on Recreation Road where she holds baby and toddler classes on Tuesdays and Fridays.

She added: “I wanted to return the generosity and give some of the puppets to local community projects.

“They are lovely and bright and are a great medium to get people to communicate with each other and express their feelings.”
