Across Bromsgrove District, residents have gone above and beyond to support each other and protect the most vulnerable during Covid-19. However, an increase in the infection rate means the country has reached tipping point, and the chance of further restrictions in our area is now significant.

I have been meeting regularly with public health officials, colleagues in local government and our local NHS. I would urge everyone in Bromsgrove District to keep doing their bit to stop the spread of this virus, including by washing your hands, wearing a face covering where appropriate and maintaining social distancing.

Supporting local businesses and workers is also crucial at this time. I was pleased to visit Handling Concepts Ltd in Stoke Prior and Jukes Insurance Brokers in Sidemoor. Both businesses are planning to use the Government backed Kickstart Scheme, which provides in work opportunities to young people.

I also spoke with business owners and residents in Hagley. All were useful opportunities to stock up on casework.

In Westminster, the Government launched the new Veterans’ Railcard. Captain Sir Tom Moore was the first recipient of the card, which will provide veterans and their families a third off rail travel. If you know someone has served, please let them know about the scheme.

Of course, we will soon commemorate Remembrance Day and pay our respects to those who have given so much for our country. Although we will not be able to mark the occasion like usual, I know local residents will be paying their respects - and supporting the Royal British Legion and other charities if they can.

As ever, if I can be of any assistance, please do get in touch via [email protected]
