Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid has welcomed the news that Worcestershire Regulatory Services (which includes Bromsgrove District Council) have been awarded £248,400 as part of the Government’s Air Quality Grants.
The grant scheme was introduced to help local authorities meet their statutory duties under the Environment Act of 1995, with £92 million in funding being awarded to various projects since. In 2023, 44 projects will be awarded a total of £10.7 million.
This round of funding will be used to cover a range of projects, across the country, with the intention of reducing the level of fine particulate matter in our air by 2040.
Worcestershire Regulatory Services have announced that the funding received will go towards the enhancement of air quality monitoring to provide real time data that can be used to drive local air quality policy, disseminate public health information and advise the public on interventions to reduce pollution.
Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid commented: "I welcome this commitment by both the Government, and Worcestershire Regulatory Services to cleaner air.
Having access to clean air is vital to our nation’s health, and I am delighted that Bromsgrove district will benefit from this generous funding package."
