Apprenticeship Week 2021

Sajid Javid MP is encouraging local residents and businesses to explore the advantages of apprenticeships, as he sets out his plans to mark National Apprenticeship Week 2021.

The local MP – who is also a former Secretary of State for Business, will be sharing information throughout the week about local organisations that support apprentices on www.bromsgrovedistrictjobs.com

An apprenticeship is a job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. You can start an apprenticeship whether you’re starting your career, want a change or you're upskilling in your current job.

The Government has extended incentives to hire apprentices, including a new payment of £2,000 for employers in England for each new apprentice they hire aged under 25, and a £1,500 payment for each new apprentice they hire aged 25 and over, until 31 March 2021.

Sajid Javid MP commented:

“In my time as an MP, I have seen first-hand how apprenticeships can unlock doors for people and support businesses of all sizes”

“They are a fantastic opportunity for people to learn and develop skills, and a great asset to our local economy. Now more than ever, supporting local apprenticeships is crucial as we look to secure the strongest possible recovery from this virus”

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said:

“I am pleased that here in Worcestershire we are continuing to show our support as a community for Apprenticeships and the opportunities they provide, even in the face of COVID-19. There is a lot of support available across the county to help both employers and young people to access apprenticeships.”

Kerry Davies, from Worcestershire Apprenticeship Hub commented:

“National Apprenticeship Week is a great opportunity for us to celebrate not just our current apprentices out there and how well they are progressing especially in the current circumstances, but also to talk about the fantastic vacancies local employers are continuing to offer.”

“There is a vast array of industries engaging with apprenticeship training and see it as a vital way of supporting the future of their business.”

Kalpana Patel, Regional Director, National Careers Service West Midlands including Staffordshire commented:

“National Apprenticeship Week is a great opportunity to find out about the fantastic range of apprenticeship opportunities that are out there and what skills and qualities employers are looking for. Whether you are thinking about becoming an apprentice, already working towards your qualification or not sure what to do next, our qualified careers advisers can support you to make informed decisions about your next steps.”
