Four organisations in Bromsgrove District are set to benefit from a share of £319,000, as the Government provides additional support for local heritage and culture.

Amongst the recipients is the Avoncroft Museum in Stoke Prior, which also benefited from a £183,000 grant from the Government in October. The Museum will now receive a further £92,000.

The Wythall Transport Museum is also set to receive funding, as well as the outdoor activity centre Blackwell Adventure, which will receive £55,000.

The Culture Recovery Fund will help organisations across the country as they welcome back visitors and return to normal operating models in the months ahead.

This round of funding has seen over 2,700 organisations being offered nearly £400 million in grants and loans to help the culture and heritage sector reopen and recover.

This brings the Government's total investment across grants, capital, and repayable finance from the Culture Recovery Fund so far to more than £1.2 billion across over 5,000 individual cultural and heritage organisations and sites.

Bromsgrove MP, Sajid Javid said:

“After recently visiting the Avoncroft Museum, I know how difficult the pandemic has been for our local heritage and culture industry.”

“I am delighted that venues in Bromsgrove District have received this funding. I know it will be of great support to them as they prepare to safely reopen to the public. As ever, the support of local residents for our heritage is also crucial, so please do visit when it is safe to do so.”

Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said:

“Our record-breaking Culture Recovery Fund has already helped thousands of culture and heritage organisations across the country survive the biggest crisis they've ever faced.”

“Now we’re staying by their side as they prepare to welcome the public back through their doors - helping our cultural gems plan for reopening and thrive in the better times ahead.”
